Simon Moores - A
Condensed Biography
As Managing Director of Zentelligence (Research) Ltd Vice Chairman of policy development for The Conservative
Technology Forum and, Dr Simon Moores is widely recognised as one of the UK's most respected technology columnists and broadcasters. Programme Director for the international
eCrime Congress he has, over the last twenty years, also chaired many well-respected IT User
Groups and Forums, which have included the Lotus Forum - The Microsoft Forums - The eGovernment Forum and Security First.
A co-author of the Conservative Party's "Digital Plan for Britain" and a director
of the centre-right open market 'think tank', Aediles, Dr Moores advises
government, business and the media on the evolution, development and
application of eGovernment, Internet-related technologies and their impact on
social change. He is widely recognised for his expert work on eGovernment,
information economy, Hi-tech crime and information security issues.
Frequently acting in the capacity of 'Trusted Advisor', Dr Moores' many clients
include The British Government, Microsoft, Unisys, Andersen Consulting, The
National Hi-Tech Crime Unit, Yell.Com and Symantec.
As Vice Chairman of the
Conservative Technology Forum , advising the
Westminster Front Bench team on information society issues, he is also a
member of the "Information Communication Technology Policy Group",
advising members of the European Parliament.
A deep interest in the social and economic issues surrounding the evolution of
the information society, has led him to contribute to the 'Global Civic Space'
project at The London School of Economics ' Centre for the Study of Global
Governance.
Mentioned in the Observer Newspaper's 'Power List' of influential people and
a one-time runner-up for Computer Weekly's IT 'Personality of the Year',
Simon Moores is a contributing editor for Computer Weekly and writes a
column for The IT Portal and Silicon.Com. He frequently contributes to a
number of leading publications in the IT industry and national press, which
have included eGov monitor, The Economist, The New Statesman and The
Observer newspaper. Dr Moores has also written for The Times, Arab News,
The Saudi Economic Review and many other national and international
publications.
As a publisher in his own right, Dr Moores has developed, edited and
published several independent magazines and publications within the IT
industry. These titles include Lotus eBusiness Magazine, Java Vision and The
Microsoft BackOffice Magazine.
Acknowledged as a leading media authority on Microsoft and as an original
'Futurist' thinker, Simon Moores has appeared regularly on BBC News, Sky
Television News', Jazz FM radio and is frequently called-upon as an analyst
and technology expert on Channel 4 News, ITV, CNN, CNBC and Bloomberg
television and radio.
