E-mail

Most of us spend far more time processing e-mail than we do surfing the web, and smart marketers are taking full advantage of that. We list some tutorials if you need to learn the basics, and some marketing articles as well.

E-mail marketing
Once you get visitors to your website, you might want to secure their e-mail address and their permission to e-mail them your newsletter, occasional updates, or new product information. Find out more from Web Marketing Today. Some good E-mail marketing articles and E-mail marketing case studies from Clickz. Or try the Workz site. Further articles on collecting e-mail addresses from clients can be found from two different issues of Dr EBiz(1) and Dr EBiz(2). Also, check out itwales' article on 'Getting started with email marketing'.

Mailing lists, discussion lists and newsgroups
Available in many areas of business and offer an opportunity to discuss key topics and ask questions. Newsgroups work like noticeboards. Scan for any new messages that catch your eye and add your own, either on a new topic or in response to another notice. Mailing lists are carried by regular e-mail technology.

Phil Bradley
START HERE if you want a concise introduction to newsgroups and mailing lists - what they are and how they work. What are the differences between them?

Liszt.com
This is THE starting point for access to mailing lists. Now run by Topica.

DejaNews
Likewise, THE starting point for Usenet Newsgroups. Now run by Google.
