Business Finder
D & B service allowing you to find any company anywhere in UK by name, product, or location. Quick way of finding suppliers, rivals, marketing lists.

Company Count
A D & B site that gives you a count of the number of companies in any industry within any UK location by various means - postcode area, size, profit, turnover, product, etc. You can get an accurate count as data is based on Companies House registrations.

Companies House
Direct access to basic company details from Companies House. Ideal for checking on the existence of a company, its status and address details.

Vickers Information
Company Formations and information on Companies. Specialising in the electronic formation of companies for all types of businesses, & can also provide information on companies and their Directors.

Dissolved Companies
The Companies House database allows you to search for dissolved companies from its archive.

Liquidations
Using Companies House database, you can locate a company that is in administration - there will be an L beside the number. Bring up the report and click on the red sections which will give you Receiver details and Liquidation creditors details. These are essentially practitioner names and addresses for contact purposes.

Previous & Proposed Names
The Companies House database allows you to search for previous names and proposed names from its records. So if your company name does not come up on the current list check the previous name file by clicking the appropriate box. If you wish to check proposed names then click the box concerned and then do your search.

Hoover's Online
Good site for finding companies, offers a fair bit of free information which usually includes a company's top competitors.

Hemmington Scott
Good selection of free information on UK listed companies plus priced services for more detailed information.

Digital Look
Describes itself as “the UK's leading company research portal”. It offers the latest information and data on companies, market activity, shares, funds. Much of the site content is free, but some services require free registration.

Corporate Information
Good starting point for locating business information of all types for countries world-wide. (The new site allows you only three searches a day free of charge.)
