SMEs advised on business continuity
Small businesses in Wales and the rest of the UK have been advised to develop an 'emergency policy' to ensure their business can keep going in the event of a worst case scenario.
Spokesperson for the Association of British Insurers (ABI) Kelly Ostler-Coyle says copies of important information should be kept at a separate
location to the main business.
Even if a business is not directly affected by a major incident, it could still impact upon them in different ways, she added.
The ABI recently launched a campaign to help small companies manage to keep going during incidents such as mass flooding or an explosion like at Buncefield, where people were kept away from their
premises.
"Keep everything backed up and at a different site – whether that means someone takes them home every night or there is a separate server elsewhere," she said.
"It means you can get your business up and running again quickly if something happens".
