FSB: SMEs find obstacles to going green
While small businesses in Wales and the rest of the UK want to be more environmentally conscious, there are definite barriers to this, an organisation claims.
Andrew Cave of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) said information and implementation were stumbling blocks for small firms.
He accused the government of not presenting the relevant information in an accessible way that made sense to small business owners.
The implementation of environmental policies was hindered when local authorities did not support green initiatives, he added.
Recent research by the FSB shows 92 per cent of small businesses are socially and environmentally responsible and 83 per cent practice waste minimisation and recycling.
"Obviously, most businesses have issues relating to recycling and they have to meet recycling criteria," said Mr Cave.
He went on to advise small businesses to get in touch with their local authority to get more information and seek out websites that offer practical help.
