Welsh firm releases educational computer game

Cardiff-based firm B-DAG has become the first company to launch a Welsh-language computer game.

Crisial y Pharo, or the Crystal of the Pharaoh, is an educational adventure game based on a book of the same name by Aled Richards, also head of production at B-DAG.

The game follows protagonist Pryderi on his various adventures after he is sucked into a computer and asks players to solve maths and logic puzzles as they go along.

Mr Richards said: "Creating the game was a natural progression from the book as most of the action takes place in the depths of a computer.

"Producing the game has made the book an interactive experience for children, because they will be able to read about Pryderi's adventures and also help him to solve the problems and puzzles in the game."

The CD-ROM, which will be distributed by the Welsh Books Council, looks set to follow the book's success, already a favourite in many Welsh schools.

B-DAG plans to create a range of products around the story of Pryderi, and also currently offers a variety of other different educational games.
