ITWales interviewed both Simon Peyton Jones and Dr Tom Crick of Computing at School (CAS) to get their respected thoughts on the current issues surrounding Computer Science education in our school's.
Simon Peyton is Chair of the UK Computing at School (CAS) Working Group, whose goal is to put excitement and rigour of computing science back into the school curriculum. Simon is also Principal Researcher at Microsoft's Research Lab in Cambridge, and a visiting professor at Glasgow University. His research interest is in the design and implementation of functional programming languages, especially Haskell and its compiler GHC.
We interviewed Simon to get his opinion on the future of Computer Science education in our school's and the role CAS can play.
Dr Tom Crick is Leader in Wales of Computing at School (CAS) and has been working closely with the Technocamps project since its inception to highlight the important of computer science education, as well as effecting policy change in Wales. Tom is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Cardiff Metropolitan University; he blogs at Computing: The Science of Nearly Everything (http://drtomcrick) or you can find him on Twitter (@DrTomCrick).
