The Future of Services
Thursday 10th June 2010
6.30 - 8.30pm Doors open 6pm
Robert Recorde Room, Faraday Building, Swansea University
Guest Speaker: Chris Tofts, concinnitās ltd
Services dominate economies world-wide. They are identified economic activities which extend from the provision of human-centred activities such as nursing support, through to its application as a form of business model in the supply of advanced manufactured goods such as aero-engines.
In the post-war period, manufactured goods have averaged a year-on-year productivity improvement of 3. Sadly, the record of service-oriented systems has not been so strong. As our economy becomes ever more dominated by the service delivery model of activity, how will future improvements in well-being be achieved?
This talk will discuss the opportunities offered by a service-dominated world alongside solutions required to achieve the potential returns i.e. the implementation of a science of services in order to improve the delivery of effective agile services in the public and private sectors.
