The iTunes App Store has opened significant new opportunities for software developers. At a stroke, it has taken away many of the obstacles and much of the inertia involved in distributing new software, and has been enthusiastically adopted both by developers and by consumers. It has resulted in a position where Apple has 95 of the mobile phone application market and is being copied by the other major handset developers.
However, its very success causes difficulties for developers. This talk will examine whether developers are making significant income from the iTunes App Store, and if so, where that income is being made. It will look at promising opportunities for independent developers and discuss the future of the App market across different platforms.
This event forms part of the Software Alliance Wales programme and is open to all, however we would recommend advance booking.
