Mikhaila Burgess

Mikhaila Burgess is a Lecturer in Information Systems in the School of Computer Science and Informatics, Cardiff University. Having received a BSc in Computer Science from Cardiff University in 1998 she worked for a year as a software developer and consultant, returning to Cardiff in 1999 as a PhD researcher.
Since gaining her PhD in 2004 she has worked as a researcher on a number of projects, including those in the domain of ethics and biodiversity. In her current role shes involved in teaching, external consulting and conducting research in the area of information quality, investigating the issues people have evaluating the quality of data and information available from multiple sources and trying to find ways to combat information overload.
Outside work Mikhaila is a keen amateur photographer and a self-confessed girl geek with a passion for technology, both old and new. She is also active in BCS, being vice chair of BCS South Wales, Academic Events member of BCSWomen committee, and events coordinator for Women @ BCS in Wales.
