Virgin Media Business launches in Wales

Virgin Media Business has today launched operations in Wales, and promise that Welsh organisations will benefit from an ambitious strategy that will see the company emerge as a compelling alternative to BT. Virgin Media Business says that it wants to bring the Virgin philosophy of brilliant customer service and high-quality, innovative solutions to businesses across Wales.

The company pledged to invest in continually advancing its national network so that more businesses in Wales and beyond can tap into high speed communications. With offices in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea, Virgin Media Business can deliver infinitely scalable network speeds right to the front door of organisations across the region. It will complement its high speed technology with a highly personalised service. The company plans to set new standards for the business telecoms market by building on the service heritage of the Virgin brand.

Mark Heraghty, managing director of Virgin Media Business, said, "Businesses in Wales have had a rough ride of late, but as the UK emerges from the recession there is good reason to be positive. The region is known for its resilience and spirit of innovation. Faster and smarter communications has an important role to play in helping businesses to build momentum in 2010."

"We have big ambitions for Virgin Media Business. But we can only grow if companies like what they see. We want to work with organisations in the area to redefine what’s possible for their business and help them to grasp business opportunities with both hands. Delivering fabulous fundamentals - great service, good quality and value for money - is at the heart of our strategy."

Virgin Media Business immediately becomes the largest business-to-business company within the Virgin group. Its launch reflects Virgin Media’s focus on maximising the commercial potential of its wholly-owned network. This network asset is the only national Next Generation Network in the UK giving the company a significant competitive advantage over BT and other business telecoms providers who do not own their own UK-wide access network infrastructure. It allows the company to innovate by bringing new services to the market and affords Virgin Media Business economies of scale that it can pass on to customers in the Wales.

Neil Berkett, CEO of Virgin Media, said, "There is a significant opportunity to leverage the full power of our fibre optic network in the business telecoms market. Virgin Media Business will take our strong customer-centric approach to a growing and underexploited market in which there is a need for a compelling and distinctive alternative to BT."
