This workshop has been designed to demonstrate opportunities for cross-cultural and global communications through virtual environments. The workshop is aimed at established and start-up SMEs, particularly those from ethnic minorities and also migrant workers who are already working in business. As always our events are open to anyone interested in business development.

Robert has explored various ways of delivering courses and industrial collaboration projects at Bangor University’s School of Computer Science using virtual environments, particularly working with ITWales MSc students and local SMEs. Following a short presentation Robert will demonstrate some simple communication techniques used in virtual environments, particularly in the virtual world of ’Second Life’ SL, visiting various locations, and also looking at the use of language translation tools.

After the introduction and demonstration, attendees will be given the opportunity for hands-on experience of Second Life and time permitting, a chance to sign up and be guided through the initiation stages of Second Life, global communicating through
virtual environments.

The event is FREE to attend, however advance booking is essential.
