Guest speaker - Dafydd ReesRuby on Rails is a framework for developing database-backed web applications. It marks a departure for the common approach taken by many commercial frameworks based on Java and .Net, and claims to offer a simpler, more sustainable and productive foundation for building web applications. This talk will introduce Ruby on Rails, mention how people are making money from it, illustrate the key concepts and discuss some innovative new developments in the web application space.
About the speaker: :
Dafydd Rees is a software developer specialising in agile methods and object-oriented development currently working on a very high throughput website for a major media company. He mostly works in Java, but has worked commercially with Smalltalk, Prolog, Ruby on Rails and other dynamic languages. He is a former Swansea University Computer Science student.
Following the presentation there will be a buffet and opportunity for some valuable networking
