ITWales Director awarded position on prestigious BCS Women’s Forum

ITWales director Beti Williams has become the first technology professional in Wales to be awarded a position on the prestigious Strategic Panel of the British Computer Society BCS Women’s Forum. Beti joins just 15 other women nationally on the BCS Women’s Forum Strategic Panel, which is tasked with stimulating dialogue and discussion on fully-inclusive IT policies and practices within business throughout the UK.

ITWales provides practical, accessible support to businesses in Wales, enabling them to embrace ICT development. ITWales identifies what businesses are likely to need from Information Technology and exploits its unique links with academia to help business to remain competitive, innovative and ahead of the game.

Beti Williams, director of ITWales said: "I’m delighted to have been awarded a place on the influential Strategic Panel of the BCS Women’s Forum. The BCS is committed to building and sustaining a professional and inclusive IT profession and this is particularly relevant within Wales, where there is a growing demand for qualified IT personnel. Today, women represent only about 14 of the national IT workforce and the BCS Women’s Forum can and will play a crucial role in helping to bring more women into the profession."

According to the BCS, the BCS Women’s Forum was established as a focal point for discussion to inform policies and action across the sector and will help to share knowledge from the Strategic Panel with a wider community to help build inclusive workplace and training cultures.
