Software in Wales: Structuring Success

A one day conference aimed at software developers, supported by the Welsh Assembly Government

This conference, the first in Wales, is specifically aimed at
owner/managers of software companies, freelance developers, academics,
students,
secondary school teachers and IT staff from
medium to large enterprises
.
The programme has been structured to include topics that will benefit developers from a wide range of backgrounds whilst also providing an opportunity for collaboration and networking.
The day will start with scene setting presentations, including an overview of the UK software industry and the opportunities for Wales from a business and academic perspective, followed by an
identification of trends in IT that Welsh software companies can take advantage of. Following lunch, the afternoon sessions will see three streamed workshops, one looking at development
methodologies; one covering the business of software development; and the third looking at strategic
development
options.

Background to ITWales Software Development Programme
In 2005 ITWales established a programme of events for Software developers. The initiative launched in North Wales and provided
a platform for collaboration between software developers and computing professionals from business and academia

of the group, the initiative has now been extended to the South Wales area an
d both groups now meet on a monthly basis

establish and promote Wales as a country with a global reputation for excellence in Computing and Software Development.
All events aim to s
timulate awareness of the diverse applications of computing and its influence on future product and service innovations
, whilst also highlighting and generating
the skills required to meet the future demands of the global software development industries
