In this event guest speaker Dr Thomas Varsamidis focuses on performance considerations and techniques that can be used in 2D and 3D graphic applications. The presentation will also include demonstrations of 3D virtual environments.

Thomas Varsamidis is a lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Wales Bangor since 2000. Thomas's doctoral research was in the areas of modeling and data exchange of information for Computer-Aided Control Engineering (CACE). Currently Thomas is a member of the School's visualisation group and is researching on the visualisation of virtual environments, including impact simulation effects, liquid surface visualisation and terrain generation. He also works part-time as a visualisation developer for the Centre of Advanced Software Technology (CAST), creating 2D and 3D environments for a wide range of application areas. He is a member of the Eurographics Association and currently maintains the website of the Eurographics UK branch.
