Evolving Applications in Grid Computing for e-Business

Grid computing is an emerging form of distributed computing in Business, commonly associated with high-performance and large scale processing and the sharing of idle resources.Tom Kirkham will give a presentation on how Grid technology has merged with web services to create an open set of guidelines and standards for the use of distributed applications over the internet. This has created what is cited as an emerging Business Application Layer of standards suited to a new generation of e-Business applications. For the SME in North Wales research into Grid Services hosted at the university as a means to enable this new type of e-business application is being investigated. This talk will introduce this research, and chart the development of Grid Computing over the past few years and into the future.
