Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

Longer term project ideas may be suitable for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership. These are part-funded by the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) and can enable your business to work with a university, college or research organisation that has expertise relevant to your business and can help you increase profitability.

What is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership?

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are designed to help you access University expertise and bring it into your business by working in partnership with academics or researchers. The project could be for any length of time between one and three years, with the overall aim of helping your business make a step change in an area that you have identified as high priority for your business.

How does it work?

If you have an idea for a project that could become a Knowledge Transfer Partnership, then please contact ITWales. We will arrange a meeting with a Knowledge Transfer Advisor who can help you define the project and complete the paperwork. Once the project has been agreed with the KTP advisor it will need to be approved the DTI.

What kind of businesses can take part?

In order to take part in the scheme, companies must have a minimum of 5 employees and 2 years trading figures.
