Section 5: How much does it cost, where can I get a copy?
At the time of writing Delphi's pricing structure looks something like this:
Borland Delphi 4 Standard £69.00 + VAT
Borland Delphi 4 Professional £399.00 + VAT
Borland Delphi 4 Client Server £1799.00 + VAT
But for more up to date pricing you could contact your local software store, PC World, or visit one of these web sites:
To find out the latest developments on the Delphi front, there is no better resource than Borland/Inprises own web site:
http://www.inprise.com or
http://www.borland.com
In addition to working your way through this course, you will almost certainly find yourself wanting to get hold of a text book with more
examples and solutions. There are hundreds of good books on Delphi.
Waterstones always carry a good selection, as does
Amazon . The "Delphi Developers Guide" is my personal favorite, as it contains
many of the seemingly trivial pieces of information that the Delphi manuals omit.
Delphi books tend to be expensive - I am told that in the UK this is because many of them include CDs and as soon as a book includes
a CD, the purchase attracts VAT at 17.5%. For this reason, and because many books make the material on the CD available on-line, it is
probably worth looking around for books without included CDs.
